50′s DRESSES

Friday, April 13th, 2012

This slideshow pretty well sums up what I’d wear every day if I had my drothers…

TO MARKET

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

I’m pretty sure I NEED this… though if I were smart, I wouldn’t buy the striped one, because that pretty much rules out wearing it with half of my wardrobe.

WELCOME SUMMER

Monday, May 16th, 2011

With the arrival of hot weather in NYC, I’m contemplating the important things. Like nail polish. My friend Tonya inspired me to go for fluorescent pink. And I’m hooked. Check out my dancer pal Parisa sporting it… Tres chic with the gold shoes, n’est-ce pas?

and encourage good design for kids. This Gap rashguard is the cutest ever. I love a good Breton stripe, and this looks like a 20′s swim costume.

How Sweet

Friday, March 4th, 2011

How sweet are these wooden platform sandals? And at $69, I don’t have to feel guilty about the purchase!

THREE TWENTY EIGHT

I’m loving this new blog. A little cooking, lots of shopping and the aesthetic is so perfectly restrained. I want these Japanese paper balloons for Louella!

BLONDE

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

This hair is so perfectly 1996, when I was in art school and we all had shorn hair, and I dyed it in my bathroom till my scalp burned and my hair was ashy and white. It makes me want to run-not-walk to the salon, chop it all off and dye it. But, alas, I’m neither 19 nor do I look like this woman…

I Have Found the Perfect Hat

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

I wanted a turban. Like old ladies wear. You know, a little Grey Gardens chic.

This one from Eugenia Kim at Catbird is pretty rad. But at $154, I was hoping for something a with a more cheap and cheerful price tag.

I totally thought I’d find something vintage. Something like…

But I happened upon it in the oddest of places… or maybe not, considering I just said said I wanted the “old lady” look. Talbots may have gotten a J.Crew facelift, but you can’t take the old lady outta the place.

This photo does it no justice, but cocked a little to the side, this is true turban heaven for $44. Not at all costume-y, and with a pin on the front, super cool.
