I’m more than a little obsessed with Brie Harrison‘s prints. Ah-mazingly folksy and modern at the same time. These would work really well with our black & white print sofa pillows…

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011AT LAST
Friday, March 4th, 2011Never thought I’d be so excited about a doorstop. But the little stacks of cardboard Willy rigs to keep some of the doors open in our old, Brooklyn building are just not that classy. And now Lou is starting to want to open and shut doors and it would be nice to have something to keep her little fingers from being slammed in one of them. These doorstops by Thorsten Van Elten look great and are $14. Win win.
THREE TWENTY EIGHT
Monday, February 28th, 2011I’m loving this new blog. A little cooking, lots of shopping and the aesthetic is so perfectly restrained. I want these Japanese paper balloons for Louella!
BECAUSE I HAVE A BLACK THUMB
Sunday, February 27th, 2011I was poking around online trying to find a dining table and chairs for our apartment. It’s time. We’re starting to think about selling our place, and that seems like a good excuse to finish things up around here. You know, finish decorating to sell. That’s a completely backwards logic, isn’t it?
I came across this table & chairs set from Dutch designer Moooi (chair pictured). It brings a serious smile to my face. And since I can’t keep a damn plant alive, I ought get some pretty in my life somehow…
I think we’re going for some black Thonet bentwood chairs and a simple white marble table, but perhaps this is a reminder to adorn my set with some pretty flowers once and again.
The Kagan-Wilsons
Friday, September 24th, 2010I’m nosy. I love seeing the inside of other peoples’ homes. It reminds me of driving around and going to open houses with my mom when I was a kid, whether or not we were looking to move. So this profile of furniture designer Vladimir Kagan and his needlepoint goddess wife Erica Wilson on The Selby especially peaked my interest. I once saw the inside of their place firsthand (at a Christmas party a long time ago), and I liked it so much that I was thrilled to experience it again.
What thrillingly personal style, not at all ostentatious or prescribed. A true amalgam of his and her styles.
Alexa Chung for Madewell
Thursday, September 9th, 2010This is a pretty happy-making collection. Alexa Chung always has some seriously good style, and her new collection for J.Crew brand Madewell has such brilliant staples. You’ve gotta admire her not trying to do something too flashy, but to create some seriously wearable pieces. Now where’s my credit card?
Exit Strategy
Thursday, September 2nd, 2010Can’t believe I missed Jonathan Wegener’s post a little while back about the design work I did for the iphone app he created with his sister, Ashley, Exit Strategy NYC which helps subways riders figure out which train car to enter to be closer to your desired destination. In his post, Jonathan debunks the why-hire-a–designer-when-I-can-do-it-myself idea and uses my work as an illustration. Always nice to hear a client say that it was worthwhile to hire you.
Marimekko Opening in NYC
Saturday, August 28th, 2010Being a lover of all prints “megnoxious” — as my husband calls them — the news that the Finnish textile design company Marimekko is opening two stores in NYC is happy news. I was pretty pleased to see that they started working with Crate & Barrel some years ago, but their collaborations tend to be a little tame for my taste. Bring on the bright colors! Bring on the loud prints! [via interiordesign via cousin penelope hartwell]
