Marimekko Opening in NYC

Being a lover of all prints “megnoxious” — as my husband calls them — the news that the Finnish textile design company Marimekko is opening two stores in NYC is happy news. I was pretty pleased to see that they started working with Crate & Barrel some years ago, but their collaborations tend to be a little tame for my taste. Bring on the bright colors! We just returned from an extra-long vacation to Portland where we discovered an especially awesome antiques store called Hawthorne Vintage. Even with prices a fraction of those in NYC, we sadly could not tote home a teak dining room table, but that didn’t stop us from bringing home this sweet, hand-painted Scotch decanter.
